Rava kesari is a popular delicious sweet, that can be prepared in a jiffy. It is considered to be the easy to make sweet, all experienced cooks makes now and then with ease.
The main problem is preparing kesari is we have to make kesari without lumps. There are some tips to avoid lumps during preparation. One is while adding rava to boiling water and the second one is while adding sugar to cooked rava. But the key point is to add rava or sugar slowly and stir properly and constantly
Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Ingredients:
- Rava cup – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 3/4 cup
- Ghee – 1/4 cup
- Cashews – 10
- Cardomom powder – 1/4 tsp
- Food Colour – a pinch
- Water – 1+1/2 cup
Method:
- Heat a pan , add a tsp of ghee and fry cashews in it and remove it
- Heat 2 tsp of ghee and add rava to it. Fry rava in medium flame with constant stirring until nice aroma comes. Transfer it to a plate
- Add water to the pan and bring to boil. Add rava little by little and mix continuosly to avoid formation of lumps
- Cook it in medium for 3-4 minutes till rava gets cooked well
- Add sugar, food color and stir it well. keep the flame in medium
- Add remaining ghee to it and mix well
- Stir in medium flame for 5 minutes or still the kesari forms as a whole mass
- Add fried cashews to it and switch off the flame
- Serve it as a evening snack or with breakfast
