Kodo millet is a great substitute to rice. Once in a week, I used to make some porridge as breakfast. Today, we had Varagu Arisi kanji, and it tastes yum. Varagu has lot of nutrients and rich in fibre, it keeps us full for longer time. Try this recipe
Preparation Time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- Varagu arisi – 1/4 cup or 100 gm
- Water – 1+ 1/2 cup
- Milk – 1 cup
- Grated Jaggery – 4 tsp
- Grated Coconut – 3 tsp
- Nuts -optional
Method:
- Wash the millet well and add it to pressure cooker
- Add water to it and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- Switch off the flame and let the pressure release by its own
- Open the lid, add milk , jaggery and grated coconut to it
- Serve it warm
Notes:
- You can add buttermilk, small onions and chilli for spicy version
- You can add coconut milk too instead of milk
