I learnt this recipe from my amma. She is an expert in doing this. It tastes exactly like tiffin sambar. It goes well with Idli, Dosa , Upma n Pongal. It’s very easy to make.Do try it once, you will like it for sure
Preparation time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- Onions – 1 (big)
- Tomatoes – 2 (big)
- Brinjal – 1 (big) or 2 (small)
- Green chilli – 2 to 3
- Besan flour/Kadalai maavu – 2 tsp
- Tiffin sambar powder – 1 tsp
- oil – 3 tsp
- salt – to taste
- Curry leaves – 1 String
- chopped Coriander leaves – 1 tsp
To Temper:
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal split – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin /Jeera – 1/4 tsp
- Hing – pinch
Method:
- Heat a pressure cooker
- Add oil and items to temper one by one
- Add finely chopped onions and slit green chillies , curry leaves and saute well
- Add finely chopped tomatoes and Brinjal
- Add turmeric powder and sambar powder. Mix everything well
- Add besan flour and saute well with the mixture
- Add salt and water
- close the lid and cook it in medium flame for 1 whistle
- open the lid and garnish it with coriander leaves. serve it with your favourite tiffin item
